Ravni kotari
In this sunny and spacious valley spanning 800 km2, tourists from coastal cities and resorts set out in search of an authentic life experience, local organic eco food, the joy of living with nature, and events that nurture centuries-old customs and knowledge often inscribed on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity. In the meantime, hosts have renovated or built 400 houses and estates with pools under the hills and fields, welcoming visitors not only for accommodation but also for an immersive experience and tasting. Moreover, museums showcasing the ethnographic building tradition enrich the cultural landscape.
This inspired the residents of 6 municipalities (Zemunik, Galovac, Škabrnja, Polača, Stankovci, Lišane Ostrovičke) and the city of Benkovac to establish the Tourist Board of Ravni Kotari, a tourism community "different from others." It aims to convey marvelous, genuine scenes, colors, stories, dishes, and traditions to people in search of authenticity and harmonious coexistence with nature and heritage.
